Compassionate, science-based mental health therapy for burned-out humans
You are compassionate and capable. You are often the go-to person for your family, your work team, and your friend group. You feel like you are constantly in motion. You rarely have an idle minute and sometimes it feels like you’re just spinning in place. Lately, you’re feeling drained and disconnected and it’s starting to affect how you show up at home, in your relationships, and at work. You’ve been to the workshops on “self-care” and you get that things should feel different in your life (more balanced, more fun?!) but you’re not sure where to start.
You really do love your people and your causes, but if one more person asks you for help this week, you might just tell everyone exactly where to go.
A more balanced and connected life is possible.
Hi, I’m Jessica!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR therapist licensed in Louisiana, Texas, and North Carolina. I love working with helpers and caregivers to resolve issues related to self-worth, anxiety, over-functioning, people-pleasing, overwhelm, burnout, direct and vicarious trauma, and attachment injury.
In my fifteen years of education and nonprofit direct service and administration, I have experienced firsthand the numbness, overwhelm, rage, desperation, escape fantasies, and exhaustion that are so common among helpers and caregivers (paid & otherwise!)
Burnout and overwhelm don’t have to have the last word.
Call it compassion fatigue, burnout, vicarious trauma - all of these have their rightful place - but the bottom line is that the experience of it sucks.
Without a real plan for support, the daily experience of helping and caregiving can suck away the energy, creativity, compassion and joy that make you a force for change in your community. This can leave you feeling overwhelmed, drained, uninspired and even hopeless.
I emphasize that helpers are human, with the same core needs to feel safe, hopeful and connected in their daily experience.
Through a compassionate and science-based approach to therapy, I help people who are feeling symptoms of burnout or overwhelm in their personal and professional lives to reconnect with what makes them feel whole and to find balance, joy, connection, safety and hope in the full range of their human experience.
